Do you need a WSIB-approved certificate for work or school?

We offer free public classes everyday at 1245 Danforth Ave, Toronto!

Para Aid is generously supported by private donations and public health grants. Anyone who lives, works or attends school in the City of Toronto is eligible to attend for free.

All classes are held at 1245 Danforth Avenue, Toronto Ontario (Suite 204).

 

We are conveniently located 1 minute away from the TTC Subway (Line 2, Greenwood Station). There is a paid parking lot directly behind the building and street parking in front.

Para Aid is an affiliate member of the Lifesaving Society and an authorized training partner of Island Aid.

 

Our courses are recognized by the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board of Ontario in accordance with Regulation 1101.

No Cost Education

Para Aid is funded entirely by private benefactors and public health grants. We offer free First Aid & CPR training to anyone who lives, works or attends school in Toronto.

Courses We Offer

Blended Course Format

Step 1

Online Registration

​

Select a course, sign up online, and choose a date & time that works for you. Classes are offered everyday, including weekends.

​

There are a limited numbers of spots available. We do not accept walk-ins. You must register online ahead of time.

Step 2

Digital Learning

​​

Complete an online course before attending your scheduled class. The e-course course is self-paced and can be paused, saved and resumed for up to 2 weeks.

​

There are no live video calls. You will not need access to a camera or microphone.

Step 3

In-Person Training

​

After completing the e-course, attend an in-person class to learn practical, hands-on skills from a qualified instructor.

​

You will practice performing chest compressions and rescue breaths on a medical manikin, plus a variety of other lifesaving skills.

Step 4

Certification (Optional)*

 

​After completing the e-course and in-person class, you are eligible to receive a certificate from Island Aid: a WSIB-approved training agency.

 

Island Aid can email you a verifiable digital certificate. Administrative fees will be charged to process and distribute your certificate.

    Yes! Para Aid is an affiliate member of the Lifesaving Society and an authorized training partner of Island Aid. Our courses are recognized by the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board of Ontario (WSIB) in accordance with Ontario Regulation 1101.
  • Which course should I take?
    Standard First Aid + CPR C & AED is a comprehensive course required by most workplaces and schools in Ontario. Almost every occupation requires this certificate. Emergency First Aid + CPR C & AED is a shorter course which only covers major topics. Some specific occupations require this training. If you are unsure which course you need, always enroll in Standard First Aid + CPR C & AED. It covers all topics in Emergency First Aid and more.
  • How do I sign up for a class?
    You can sign up for a class using our website. Navigate to the top menu and click on "Public Courses." If you are unable to sign up on our website, email: info@para-aidcpr.com for assistance. There is a $5.00 registration fee, which helps prevent people from reserving seats and not attending class. We do not accept walk-ins, please register online ahead of time.
  • Where are classes held?
    All classes are held at 1245 Danforth Avenue, Toronto (Unit 204). Our classroom is conveniently located across the street from Greenwood subway station on Line 2. There is also a paid parking lot directly behind the building.
  • What should I bring to class?
    Please bring a water bottle, photo ID, paper, and a pen to class. If you require a WSIB-approved certificate, please bring a payment method for the administrative fees (debit, credit, or cash).
  • What should I wear to class?
    Please wear comfortable athletic clothing and footwear. You will be required to practice chest compressions on a medical manikin. We do not recommend bringing any large bags. Backpacks, purses and smaller tote bags are acceptable.
  • Is there a minimum age requirement?
    Yes. You must be at least 14 years old to sign up for a course. There are no age other prerequisites.
  • What is your contact info?

  • How does blended training work?
    After you register for a class online, there are 2 steps to follow: Complete the online course. It's self-paced and accessible 24/7. There are no live videos calls. Complete in-person training. Attend our class and learn hands-on skills from an instructor. Check your 'booking confirmation' email for instructions on how to access the online course.
  • How do I receive my certificate?
    ​After completing the e-course and in-person class, you are eligible to recieve a certificate from Island Aid: a WSIB-approved training agency. Island Aid can email you a verifiable digital certificate. You can download this certificate and email it to your employer, or print out a physical copy. Please note: Island Aid charges an administrative fee to process and distribute your certificate. This fee is not covered by Para Aid.
  • Can I take first aid training online?
    No. The WSIB requires first aid training to be in-person or blended. You cannot take 100% online training. Para Aid offers blended training which is half online and half in-person.
  • Do you offer private group classes?
    Yes. Please email us to arrange a private group class. We are able to travel to your workplace, however there is a very high demand for this program. We recommend emailing us at least 1 month in advance.
