Program Details

Standard First Aid is a comprehensive, in-depth course which covers a wide variety of medical emergencies, injuries and illneses. Major topics include: - performing CPR on adults, children, and infants - Using an AED (heart machine) - performing the heimlich maneuver for choking - responding to heart attacks, strokes, seizures, diabetes, heat stroke, and hypothermia - treating burns, bleeding, broken bones, and concussions - using an EpiPen for severe allergies In order to attend this training for free; you must live, work or go to school in the City of Toronto. The minimum age is 14 years or older. There are no other prerequisites. There is a $5.00 registration fee, which helps prevent people from reserving seats and not attending class. This course is WSIB-approved through our training partner agency: Island Aid. After registering, you will receive a link to begin the e-course. Please complete the online course before your in-person class. We recommend wearing comfortable athletic clothing and footwear to class. You should also bring a water bottle and photo ID. If you require CPR Level HCP instead of CPR Level C, please register for Basic Life Support in addition to Standard First Aid.

Corporate Policy

To reschedule an in-person class, you must email us at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time. If you do not show up to a scheduled class, you will be marked absent and forfeit the registration fee. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late to an in-person class, you will not be permitted to attend the class. There are no exceptions.

Step 1

Online Registration

Select a course, sign up online, and choose a date & time that works for you. Classes are offered everyday, including weekends.

​

There are a limited numbers of spots available. We do not accept walk-ins. You must register online ahead of time.

Step 2

Digital Learning

​​

Complete an online course before attending your scheduled class. The e-course course is self-paced and can be paused, saved and resumed for up to 2 weeks.

​

There are no live video calls. You will not need access to a camera or microphone.

Step 3

In-Person Training

 

​After completing the e-course, attend an in-person class to learn practical, hands-on skills from a qualified instructor.

​

You will practice performing chest compressions and rescue breaths on a medical manikin, plus a variety of other lifesaving skills.

Step 4

Certification (Optional)*

 

​After completing the e-course and in-person class, you are eligible to recieve a certificate from Island Aid: a WSIB-approved training agency.

 

Island Aid can email you a verifiable digital certificate. Administrative fees will be charged to process and distribute your certificate.
